About Marise

Marise is my alter ego, created to allow me to explore the internet anonymously.

Through a combination of curiosity and boredom, I ended up in the world of ‘online cheating’. The contacts are essentially anonymous, which creates a tremendous freedom and openness. Craving attention and discovery, many put everything on the line. With time and experience, Marise’s story took shape and so did the novel that tells her story. ‘The List of Longings’ is a cocktail of my own and other people’s stories, generously sprinkled with imagination. It took me years to find the time and courage to finish the book. Cheating is not fiction, it is of all times and is heavily criticised and practised by people from all walks of life. In this novel, sex outside a committed relationship is neither condoned nor disapproved of, the subject matter is too complex and personal for that.
